The Winterruption YEG festival is a multi-venue music and arts festival taking place in various indoor and outdoor venues in downtown Edmonton every January.

Started in 2019 in conjunction with Saskatoon and Regina Winterruption festivals, and Calgary’s Big Winter Classic, Winterruption YEG works closely with the arts community of Edmonton and greater Western Canadian winter community arts festivals to create a truly unique festival experience. Using the leverage of all Western Canadian winter festivals, Winterruption YEG uses its combined resources to create a dynamic and inclusive festival experience.

With event prices ranging from free to $59 weekend wristbands, the aim of the community winter arts festival is inclusivity and promotion of the arts in a barrier free snowy setting. Every show will also be subject to a safe and inclusive space policy, and a number of events will be geared towards all ages and family communities, as well as 18+. Programming is mandated to be diverse and inclusive, in genre, gender, sexuality, age and culture.

Mission
The mission of Winterruption YEG is to celebrate the arts, music and community in winter in Edmonton.

Vision
The not-for-profit organization is committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming multi-venue winter festival in Edmonton. The festival celebrates local and international creativity through artistic expression and community winter engagement.

Values
To provide an inclusive and welcoming festival to all members of the arts and music community and to be a catalyst that inspires people to embrace being a winter city. We are also committed to promoting issues of diversity, human rights, and environmental responsibility. Winterruption YEG tries to touch as many people in our community as possible by making programming affordable for all, by introducing children and youth to the arts in a winter climate, and by collaborating on projects with other community groups and artists.
