For over 20 years, Interior Health (IH) has been working alongside communities to advance the health and well-being of everyone in B.C.’s Interior – including people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions – so we can all enjoy a healthier tomorrow.
Serving more than 899,000 people across over 215,000 square kilometers, the IH region spans the ancestral, unceded, and traditional territories of the seven Interior Region First Nations: Dãkelh Dené, St’át’imc, syilx, Tŝilhqot’in, Ktunaxa, Secwépemc, and Nlaka’pamux Nations. We recognize the deep diversity within these lands, including the 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, families, and communities who call this region home.

IH delivers programs and services that honour the diverse needs, identities, and lived experiences of the people we serve. Our network – from hospitals and community health centres to public health units, mental health and substance use services, home and community care, and environmental health programs – is committed to creating safer, more affirming spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people. This includes reducing barriers to care, promoting inclusive practices, and partnering with community organizations that support gender- and sexually diverse populations.

Our vision is health and well-being for all. Our values of quality, integrity, compassion, and safety ground us in promoting wellness, delivering culturally safe and inclusive care, and strengthening relationships with the 2SLGBTQIA+  community to advance equitable health outcomes.
